Thoreau College is thrilled to announce that, starting in the summer of 2025, students will be eligible to receive transferable college credits for participation in Thoreau College programs! This is made possible by a new partnership agreement with Prescott College, an innovative 4-year college located in Arizona that has been one of the pioneers in the fields of environmental liberal arts and expeditionary learning for over 60 years. Starting in July 2025, participants in our Driftless Field School summer program will be eligible for 4 college credits, while Fall and Spring Metamorphosis Gap Semester participants will be eligible for up to 15 credits per semester. As a result of this agreement, students can also now use funds from 529 college savings plans to cover expenses related to participation in Thoreau College programs.
Receiving credits is optional for students, with a per credit fee of $125/credit payable to Prescott College. Students currently enrolled in another college or planning to enroll in a specific college following completion of their time at Thoreau College should confirm that they will accept these transfer credits, as transfer policies vary from institution to institution.
We are so pleased to be able to share news of this important milestone in the development of Thoreau College and deeply grateful to Prescott for recognizing the depth and quality of the programs we have built over the course of almost 10 years here. Forward into an exciting new chapter!
